Words of Wisdom from Demetri Martin...

"The easier it is to draw the state the harder it is to live in. If you live in a regular polygon get the H--- out of there (Sorry Wyoming). You need to move to a squiggly area, culture is attracted to squiggles."

After much though, list making, debating, sleepless nights, a few tears, tons of anxiety, lots of advice, and a few weeks of uncontrollable emotions... I have made a decision.... I'm leaving this wonderful state of Utah, which after 16 years of living here has become a place I love. I moved from California and always said I would never like Utah and would move back as soon as possible. Well the 4 different season, the wonderful people, the memories, friends, family, University of Utah, U of U Athletics staff, amazing scenery..... I could go on and on. These are just a few things I am going to miss. I just love this state!

However I am not going to complain about living 5 minutes from the beach or in a place where I never have to shiver in my car while waiting for it to warm up, or peer right above the dashboard and try to drive safely cause I was too lazy to scrape my windshield, or have my calling as a YSA stake rep (where I have been for 3 years and even though I have a partner I still do ALL of the work)

Anyways I am moving to (as Ron Burgundy would say) Saint D-ag-o to grow up, take a job, and become a big kid. Sometimes I am so excited, other times I wonder what in the h--- I am doing. Either way I will give it a chance, make the best of it, and thanks to my wonderful parents...if I find it unbearable, I will be welcomed back home with open arms. Giving it an honest try will mean they won't be disappointed in me if I decided its not the right place for me. I learned last summer the more nervous/excited/anxious you are about something, the more rewarding it is. Walking through the airport last year I had tears rolling down my cheeks asking myself if I would be able to make it through the next six weeks, if you've heard about my experience you know I LOVED every minute of it and DID NOT want to come home.

While writing this I am still on the fence, I don't know, I love new adventures and now could not be a better time (young, single, and right out of college, perfect!), but there is still the fear of change and hating every minute of my 40 hour work week. (who likes that anyways?)

I was just wondering why college doesn't prepare you for the real world. I don't feel like I learned how to be an adult, just a student (one with more freedom than a high school student).

Come on how could you resist the opportunity to take picture as lovely as this?

I'll keep you updated on the whole straight vs. squiggles debate. Who knows maybe Demetri is onto something?

Lots of new posts... but this is by far the most exciting!!!
Make sure you turn off the music to watch the wonderful videos!

COMING MARCH 5th.......
STAY TUNED TO FIND OUT WHY THIS DAY IS SPECIAL/EMOTIONAL/SCARY/EXCITING/ INTERESTING...ETC.

So on the radio this morning they brought up the topic of debt. Many people called in and talked about how much debt they were in. One 23 year old boy was $54,000 dollars in debt. HOW DO YOU DO THAT AT 23? It wasn't even for school, it was all stupidity. I just can't believe people aren't smart enough to figure this out. This particular kid filed for chapter 7 bankruptcy and never has to face the consequences of paying his debt off. Yeah I know it will go on his credit report, but why do they just get it erased? I don't really understand it, you do the crime, you should have to do the time (or in this case, you buy the crap you should have to pay for it). High schools are now requiring kids to take a class about credit card debt, and real life. I remember watching Channel 1 (back in the day) and Lisa Ling said if you bought a $500 stereo with a credit card and paid it off within a year you would actually end up paying $1000 for it. That was years ago and the interest rates were probably a lot lower, I can't imagine what it's like now. I only have one card and I got it right before my trip last summer, it really stresses me out and I don't think I will ever get myself into a ridiculous amount of debt. (unless it's for education, house, etc.) Here is the story that sparked this topic....
HOLY CRAP..... $40 Million in debt!!
(Despite the stupidity of this guy, this house is pretty spectacular)

Attorney Keith Barton allegedly traded on the success of the family business to rack up $40 million in debt, a lawsuit filed against him contends. Barton was the public face for Gregory, Barton & Swapp P.C., a family owned firm widely known for its "One Call, That's All" slogan. The firm dissolved earlier this year in a bitter public squabble. The lawsuit is the second filed against Barton by his sister-in-law Kim Brown, who is trying to recoup $1.2 million in unpaid fees she says Barton owes her advertising agency, Kim Brown & Associates. An earlier lawsuit claiming fraud on Barton's part was partially dismissed in August. Court documents filed Thursday in 4th District Court allege Barton used the firm's assets to fund a lavish lifestyle, which included construction of a 25,000-square-foot mansion in Alpine. Brown also claims Barton kept creditors at bay by lying about the firm's ability to pay its debts and promising payments once the firm received settlements from pending product liability cases. "By October 2003, Barton was carrying approximately $40 million in debt and the law firm had bounced 182 checks to its creditors and vendors because he was drawing out money above and beyond what the firm was able to pay," Brown's attorney Sean Egan said.

A Utah County man believes he got a bargain today when he paid seven million, that's seven million dollars, for a home in Alpine. The mansion was built and owned by attorney Keith Barton, who does extensive advertising for his personal injury firm, but it was the bank who sold it a foreclosure auction. There were just a handful of registered bidders who were qualified to bid on the property, which some appraisals had at more than twenty million dollars. But it took much less cash before the bidding was over. "If there are no further bids, the property is sold to Mr. Ledbetter who is the highest bidder at public auction, for seven million dollars." Keith Barton, who owned the home, attended the sale. Apparently, his last minute efforts to save it from the foreclosure sale failed. The home, which was on the real estate market last fall, for 14.9 million dollars was billed as a "pure work of art." It is on nine acres and has seven bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, a gourmet kitchen, ballroom, salon, gold leaf detail, marble, original stained glass, as well as a pool, granite stone pathways, barn, loft and a greenhouse." Lennon Ledbetter, Highest Bidder: "It's an unbelievable piece of property, unbelievable quality and finish; the details are unbelievable." The new owner says he will be sympathetic to the Barton family and will allow them some time to move out. Ledbetter is originally from Utah County and is involved in Quixtar, a multi-level marketing company in the same family as Amway. The furniture in the home was not included in the seven million dollars. Ledbetter plans to negotiate with the lender, who has a lien on that part of the property, so he can buy it too.

The Racist Test

I was listening to 97.1 zht (which I listen to every morning and LOVE) and they played this and I started busting up laughing. I know, I know, I think some weird things are funny (the acccents don't hurt either), but hey if you don't like it just press the stop button.

NATIONAL STRAWBERRY DAY!!!!
I'm going to go out on a limb and say this could be one of the best days of the year (it's right up there with national peanut butter day, 4th of July, and Christmas). I was actually eating some of these delicious berries when I discovered how great this day was. Funny how life works sometimes!

*WARNING: DON'T READ IF YOU HAVE ALREADY FILLED YOUR AUBREY RANDOMNESS FOR THE DAY!

I was watching The View the other day and they brought up an interesting topic, I feel the need to share a few thoughts about it. They mentioned people in general would be happier if they got the job they wanted when they were little. Your brain is developed and clear around age 10, you don't have stresses of money, and stuff. I have always wanted to be a doctor so I guess I'm going to be very happy (that is if I ever get into PA school). Just thought you would want my opinion on that!

Just for Amber while she's at the reg...

What name did you wish you had when you were a kid?

To tell you the truth I love my name. It was a toss up between Josh, Jenny, Jenifer, and Aubrey. Josh immediately got knocked out when I showed up missing a few important parts. I don't think I ever wanted another name.

Would you rather go without brushing your teeth or wearing deodorant?

I can't even go one night without brushing my teeth so there is no debate on this one, isn't that why they invented perfume?

In your opinion, what is your most annoying habit?

Mary Poppins...Practically perfect in every way! I'm sure everybody who just read that line got a nice little chuckle, I have WAY to many to name.

If bodysuits came back in style would you wear them?

Thats debatable.

If you were offered $300,000 to relive high school would you do it?

I really liked high school while I was there, but I'm glad I'm done. I would have to make a pro/con list about this one....it's leaning more towards HECK NO!

Would you rather live without a cellphone or the internet?

I can't do either...sad I know. Well when I was away I didn't have a phone which was nice, and I only got on the interent here and there, hmmm. I would say if I get to go back to Africa I will gladly love without both of them.

What is one question you wish you could ask people but don't because it's not polite?

Most who know me, know I don't really filter things. If I REALLY want to know, I usually ask.

Would you rather lose an arm or a leg?

Leg for sure, you can always get a new one, and most fine motor skills are done with the arms. However if I lost an arm I would have a nice excuse to shave my head and wear wigs. I would be a much happier person if I didn't have to blowdry and straighten my hair.

If you could only listen to one band or singer for the rest of your life, who would it be?

I couldn't do it, as you can tell from my random music I switch my taste more often then I wash my hair.

What do you do in the privacy of your home that you wouldn't do in public?

Well if I told you it would ruin the whole PRIVACY thing. Sorry no spilling the beans here.

Would you rather have a pretty face with a pudgy body or a so-so face with a perfect body?

With the amazing Dr. Rey around I could go for either and just have the other part fixed. (This answer is especially for Amber given her other Dr. Rey comment :)

In front of a large crowd would you rather sing or dance?

I used to sing solos all the time from 3rd-7th grade so I really have no problem making a fool out of myself in front of people. However when you're little people think it's cute... oh well if you don't want to hear or see it, close your eyes and wear ear plugs!

HOPE YOU'VE ENJOYED THIS LOVELY SEGMENT, BROUGHT TO YOU BY THE AMAZINGLY RANDOM CHARACTER YOU ALL KNOW AS AUBREY!

Another random song post from Aubrey...
"Sorry"-Buckcherry
Oh I had a lot to say was thinking on my time away
I missed you and things weren’t the same
Cause everything inside it never comes out right
And when I see you cry it makes me want to die
I’m sorry I’m bad,
I’m sorry I’m blue,
I’m sorry about all things I said to you
And I know I can’t take it back
I love how you kiss,
I love all you’re sounds,
and baby the way you make my world go round
And I just wanted to say I’m sorry…
This time I think I’m to blame it’s harder to get through the days
You get older and blame turns to shame
(Chorus)
Every single day I think about how we came all this way
The sleepless nights and the tears you cried it’s never too late to make it right
Oh yeah sorry!

SPECIAL BUDDIES!

Rob and Big (show on MTV) is one of my favorites. I laugh out loud whenever I watch it. They are so funny, if you've never seen an episode give it a chance.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!
Thats really all I have to say about that.

National Cherry Month

Cherries like many other fruits are packed with antioxidants that fight free radicals in the body and may help prevent cancer and heart disease, as well as slow the aging process.

FYI BISHOP... I took the quiz, blogthings.com can't be wrong!
(my dad told me I needed to get married)
You're Almost Ready to Get Married, But Not Quite
No doubt that you've warmed up to the idea of marriage and life long love. You just aren't quite ready to follow up with your desires, yet. You may be a bit young, or a bit commitment phobic... give it time. Concentrate on guys who you can imagine being with next year. Forever can wait.

Since February has to do with hearts, here is a pre-Valentine's day treat for all of you!

Secret Heart- Fiest
This post is mostly for Shari's enjoyment (it came up in conversation when I was talking to her one fine sunday afternoon), she is probably the only one who will get it. The lines in red are the key ones, don't you think Shari? You can listen to this song if you scroll down to the playlist and select it (it's a fun one, I like it).

*READ BEFORE YOU CONTINUE*
Sorry if you get confused, it's an inside joke. Funny story, hilarious actually! For those who don't understand don't read too much into it, it is NOT what you are thinking AT ALL! Who knows maybe I am doing this to confuse all of you and Shari actually has no idea what I am talking about! Enjoy :)

Secret heart What are you made of

What are you so afraid of

Could it be Three simple words

Or the fear of being overheard

What's wrong Let em' in on your secret heart

Secret Heart Why so mysterious

Why so sacred Why so serious

Maybe you're Just acting tough

Maybe you're just not man enough

What's wrong Let em' in on your secret heart

This very secret That you're trying to conceal

Is the very same one That You're dying to reveal

Go tell him how you feel

Secret heart come out and share it

This loneliness, few can bear it

Could it have something to do with

Admitting that you just can't go through it alone?

Let em' in on your secret heart

This very secret That you're trying to conceal

Is the very same one That you're dying to reveal

Go tell him how you feel

This very secret heart Go out and share it

This very secret heart

*I actually just really like this song and wanted to add spice to my blog, but I'm am sorry to inform you there really is no spice. It's just a song I like! Sorry if you got really excited for me and my non-existent love life.

MORE RANDOMNESS, FOR YOU READING ENJOYMENT
So I took these random tests on http://www.blogthings.com/ and got so much enjoyment out of them, I thought you would want to enjoy it also and possibly get to know me better.
(some of these actually make sense)
Your Birthdate: August 1
You don't just believe in love at first site - you've experienced it. You develop crushes pretty easily, but keeping your interest is another matter!
You are very prone to love - hate relationships.
Number of True Loves You'll Have: 2 (one down)
Number of Times You'll Have Your Heart Broken: 4 (one down- oh crap!)
You are most compatible with people born on the 1st, 10th, 19th, and 28th of the month.

You Had a Fantastic Year!

Compared to most years, last year was definitely great. Overall, you're living a much better life than you were twelve months ago. And nothing is a better mark of a good year. Here's to hoping next year is even better!

Your Lucky Underwear is Blue

You are caring and extroverted. You've made relationships your number one focus, and your lucky blue underwear can bring some balance to them. You thrive in one-on-one situations. You are a good listener and a natural born therapist. Sometimes you let the concerns of others become too important in your life, leading to stress and worry. If you want more balance, put on your blue underpants. They'll help you take care of yourself first.

You are a Great Girlfriend (CAN YOU TELL SOMEONE ABOUT THIS!!!)

When it comes to your guy, you're very thoughtful. But you also haven't stopped thinking of yourself. You're the perfect blend of independent and caring. You're a total catch (hello!) - make sure your guy knows it too!

Your Celebrity Sisters Are Mary-Kate and Ashley

Funky, eccentric, and offbeat. You're not a good girl or a bad girl, just a weird girl (THATS ME)

Your Eyes Should Be Gray

Your eyes reflect: Intensity and drive What's hidden behind your eyes: A sensitive soul

You'll Find a Boyfriend Within a Year (lets hope for sooner rather then later)

Either you're not ready for a relationship...Or you're not quite ready to leave the house. You can't meet a guy from your couch. So at least consider meeting one from your computer! (Hmm I know which one it is)

You Should Be a Politician (No thanks)

Confident, assertive, and dedicated - you know what you want in life and how to get it. Stubborn and opinionated, you can stand your ground... even if it's unpopular. And while you have strong views, you never overwhelm people with your opinions. A true charmer, you subtly influence people into seeing things your way. You do best when you:- Work according to your own rules- Can change the world with what you do (I should be a doctor or a full time humanitarian) You would also be a good lawyer or talk show host.

Your Kiss is Orange

For you, kissing is all about pushing the envelope. You're a wild kisser (again, could you tell someone about this). And you don't have to know someone all that well to kiss them. You figure that's how you'll get to know one another! (Spicy) While you may be impulsive with who you kiss, there's nothing random about your kissing technique. Kissing Type: Unconventional People See Your Kisses as: Intoxicating (Where is my boyfriend?) You Kiss Best With: A Red Kisser Stay away from: A Pink Kisser
